Travel planning can be difficult when it comes to planning fun and educational experiences with young children, but with adding two more generations it can be almost impossible to please everyone. Our goal with this travel blog is to share our experiences with you to help you create an exciting, yet realistic vacation for your family. We know we can't possibly see and do everything there is to do at every location, but we will share what works for us (or what didn't) so you can plan your vacation with ease, especially with time and/or ability constraints. You can follow along with us through our current and future travel locations, or you can check out our bucket list of places we hope to go in the future. The ones we have already checked off will have an asterisk (*) and eventually a link to our experience while we were there. One of our goals is to see all 63 National Parks across the United States. Although we are just getting started on this epic adventure, you can check out our progress on our National Park list.
Also, we are always adding to our list, so please reach out and let us know if there is a place you think we would love to see!
We are a family of four (5 with grandma) who have decided to explore the unique opportunities life on the road has to offer as we travel across the country with our family and long-haired chihuahua. My husband and I have always loved to travel, so much so that we actually moved to two different states sight unseen just to be able to explore a new place. Since then, we settled in Nebraska and did most of our traveling with our two young boys by plane. However, once the pandemic hit, we were looking for a new and safe way to scratch the travel itch. We purchased our first RV, Old Faithful, and started traveling locally while figuring out homeschooling on the road. With everything finally opening up and an upgrade from Old Faithful, we are ready for our biggest RV adventure yet!
Join us as we share all of the amazing things to do while traveling with family across the country.
Our original RV, Old Faithful, was a 1999 Coachman Santara. With some updates done by the previous owner and some new carpet in the cab and a good cleaning done by us, Old Faithful was ready for the road. Although there were no pullouts, only one bathroom, and several quirks we liked to refer to as character, Old Faithful took us on over 10,000 travel miles and gave us priceless memories with our family. Old Faithful will always be the best starter RV that set us on our way to life on the road.
Once we officially decided to travel across the country together, we realized we would need an upgrade from Old Faithful. Our new RV is a 2022 Forest River Georgetown with 2 slide outs and plenty of room for everyone while traveling with family. We are still thinking of a name, so let us know if you have any suggestions.
Gnomes are often regarded as symbols of good luck, but originally they were thought to provide protection. So much so that many people still use them to protect their crops, barns, and of course their gardens. A garden gnome project was the original idea for gnomes, but one road trip and 12 gnomes later, it has progressed into Roaming with my Gnomies.
As anyone who has traveled long distances in an RV knows...
You can always use a little good luck on your side, so we now travel with our Gnomies and share the luck when we can as we travel across the country.
